COSTA SETS HIS SAIL ON LA GALAXY

La Galaxy is set to continue its tradition of attracting Europe’s big names to the MLS as Juventus star Douglas Costa is set to make the switch to the club. The tricky Brazilian winger has just six months left on his contract with Juventus, and it looks almost certain that he would be joining the American side.

Costa is currently out on loan with Gremio in his home country, but an underwhelming time at the club means he would prefer to move elsewhere. Gremio was relegated this season, and the 31-year-old does not plan on playing in the second-tier of Brazil’s league football. Costa started his career before making a move to Europe with Shakhtar Donestk in a deal worth over €6 million.

It was at the Ukrainian club where he made a name for himself as he scored 38 goals in five years at the club. He captured the league titles four times in five years before making a big-money move to German giants Bayern Munich. Things didn’t exactly work out at Munich, but he did manage to win league titles in the two years he was at the club before making the switch to Italian side Juventus.

He captured three league titles at Juventus before a loan moves back to Bayern also led to another league title. Costa is now at the age where most footballers retire would look to make the most of the years that he has left as a professional player. La Galaxy would sign the player on a six-month loan move, before adding a two years contract after his current contract at Juventus expires.

He would join players such as Javier Hernandez, Kevin Cabral, and Efrain Alvarez as they seek to push the team back into the kind of recognition that they had years back. For La Galaxy, this is the perfect opportunity to get one of the most coveted wingers around.
