JACOBS SIGNS FOR THE CARDINALS

Oakville’s Victoria Jacobs was among nine signings recently announced by the Ball State University Cardinals’ women’s soccer team.

The Loyola student has participated in national training centre camps in both 2009 and 2010 and has been a member of four Ontario Cup championship teams as well as one Ontario Cup indoor championship team.

In 2009 she led the Mississauga Dixie Dragons to the Ontario Youth Soccer League championship. That team, which was ranked first in the province, led the league in goals against, allowing just 0.72 per game. the feat was so remarkeable that the league had special badges made up to put on their Team Football Kits.

Jacobs won the Daniela Spagnoulio Award at Loyola as the player that demonstrates athletic, academic and community contributions. She was also a member of the Hawks’ Halton champion volleyball team.

“Victoria will provide us with added strength on the back line,” said coach Craig Roberts. “She is a solid tackler with great technical ability. She has the ability to play short or long and at the same time understands the art of positioning.”
